My Pre-Preseason NFL Power Rankings

Posted on: May 27, 2008 12:41 pm

Here's a brief list of my Pre-preseason power rankings with a brief reason why I ranked them where I did.

1.  Patriots - With all of that talent and coming off of a near perfect season, they could be hungrier than last year.

2.  Chargers - I think this may be a stretch, but they looked good last season once they got it together.  Could be solid this year.

3.  Colts - This is like a no brainer year in and year out as long as they have Peyton Manning.

4.  Jaguars - They are a solid team with very few flaws.  Good defense and a consistant offense could spell AFC championship game.

5.  Cowboys - Best team in the NFC last year to not win a playoff game has talent all over the roster.  Problem is they still have Tony Romo.

6.  Giants - I don't think they will do better than 8-8 this year, but they won the big one so this is ME showing respect.

7.  Eagles - Had an 8-8 season last year when everything seemed to go wrong.  Can't see worse than 10-6 this year.

8.  Saints - I think they just had an off year last year and look to see the defense come around and Drew Brees have a Pro Bowl year.

9.  Steelers - Have the toughest schedule on paper, but this team always seems to play tough.

10.  Packers - There is a lot of young talent there but the big question mark is Aaron Rodgers.

11.  Seahawks - They seem to be in the playoff mix every year with Matt Hasselbeck around so why not?

12.  Browns - With all of the hype from the Free Agent moves I would hope they could at least make the playoffs.

13.  Vikings - The defense is just nasty looking on paper and Adrian Peterson is a monster.  But Tavaris Jackson?

14.  Broncos - Well at least now they know why Jay Cutler lost all that weight.

15.  Cardinals - This is their year!  (Just like last year, and the year before, and the year before...)

16.  Bills - Not a lights out team, but they have the tools to compete.  A lot rides on Trent Edwards' shoulders.

17.  Bengals - To Chad or not to Chad, that is the question.

18.  Rams - Could they really be that bad again?  With the talent on the roster you would hope they can be at least 7-9.

19.  Texans - The new Cardinals.  Every year they will be considered the "sleeper".

20.  Titans - Vince Young is a terrible QB.  You can't win much when the guys TD to interception ratio is in reverse (1-3).

21.  Buccaneers - I think they were playing a little over their heads last year and should come down a bit.

22.  Redskins - Let face it, they also played wayyyy over their heads last year.  Welcome back fellas.

23.  Ravens - Too many questions with the rebuilding and the new coaches.

24.  Bears - Top free agent aquisition:  Rex Grossman.  Yes, that Rex Grossman from the 07 Bears.

25.  Panthers - The Eagles have their top pick in the 09 draft so I have a Panthers voo-doo doll at my desk.  Pins will be added soon.

26.  Jets - Slightly better than last year but not much.  They bought up everybody's used parts in free agency and tried to build a Mercedes.

27.  Lions - Hey Jon Kitna, shut the Fu@k up!  You guys suck!  At least they didn't draft a WR in the first round this year.

28.  49ers - As Alex Smith goes, so go the 49ers.  Good luck Isaac Bruce, you should have just retired!

29.  Chiefs - Bad QB's and just wayyy too many other question marks.  Larry Johnson needs to get healthy.

30.  Raiders - If JaMarcus Russell can have a good year they may win 5 or 6 games.  I'm not counting on it.

31.  Dolphins - Excellent offseason, just not set up for THIS season.  Get some more good draft picks and i'll see you in 2011.

32.  Falcons - Had a nice offseason, but much like the Dolphins, aren't built to win this year.
